Shelves: pnr-uf So, I came to the last book of the series and had that usual booklover sense of dread and anticipation because this was it. How would the series end and, more important, would I be satisfied? Lara Rho is a Nephilim, a fall angel or air elemental.
She was rescued by another fallen angel and given refuge in his well-warded school where fallen angels and half-angels of their kind are brought for protection and training. Laura trained as a Seeker, one who goes out and finds these that are in danger from the demon, children of fire, and need to be brought in.
On her first assignment, she is drawn to a beautiful carefree sailor, Justin Miller, who turns out to be Of course, the fire demon attack and the surge of power in him proves her right and they end up on quite the adventure trying to get him some answers. It was great to get a story that involved the air elementals and learning about them after the earlier books mentioned them as one of the four elemental races.
The fire elementals and some others make things get pretty exciting for Lara and Justin. But, as much as I liked this one and devoured it quickly, I felt it was sadly under-developed. Too much was left up in the air for the series story arcs.
But, I got the feeling it was meant to be a longer series and, for whatever reason, was stopped suddenly. Unfortunately, that was not the only under-developed part. This romance, and I do mean talk of love and forever, took place in three days.
And, right up until the last of the third day, there was little more than sexual attraction between them unless you count mutual life saving and sharing backgrounds with assurances that neither wanted long term.
This story had a lot going on between the previous plot threads carrying over, the introduction of the Nephilim, ongoing demon threats, the romance, and facing up to their pasts. For example, Lucy and Conn loose their baby and their relationship is drifting apart.
It gets maybe a total of three or four pages when this is a major thing that seems to be mentioned in passing. All the threads tugging at the whole made for each thread to get stretched thin on development. So, while I could get on board with the characters, their situations, and the action element, I really needed to see a great deal more development and a little more evidence or time for a true romance to develop. Just too much and needed more pages.
I still think the series is well worth other paranormal romance fans to pick up especially if they like spicy hot romance and a unique worldbuilding with great characters. We know that Conn the sea-lord sent the children away on a boat when Sanctuary was attacked and that the ship wrecked, with them never found. Lara is a fallen angel children of air , who is now working as Seeker, trying to find fallen like her who fell for interfering and take them to Rockhaven, a school for people like them.
The school has been a haven for her after she fell and was violated. The guy is Justin and is working on a boat, she invites him for a drink but when she touches him she realizes she was wrong.
She leaves him but outside she and her partner are attacked by demons and Justin comes to rescue and is injured. Lara takes him to the school knowing that she is breaking the rules. I found the Guardians irritating and not at all good, at first Lara was still that girl, who listened to people at higher position than her but then she rebels, she gives him a knife and when he escapes and comes to her door to tell her to help him she does. He only remembers that past seven years and only the sea makes him comfortable.
They escape outrunning demons. Lara has a problem with sex but with Justin she feels comfortable. The book was enjoyable, nothing that great but not bad as well.
Review: Forgotten Sea by Virginia Kantra
Kagalrajas As a Seeker it is her job to find other children of air before they are found and destroyed by children of fire. Sometimes…it just kantr me want to bash my head against the wall. A passionate journey of discovery After Lara and Justin escape Rockhaven and set off to find out who Justin really is the story gets much better. Forgotten Sea : Virginia Kantra : I was kinda hoping to get to know the characters a little better then I did.
